Robert was born in 1874 not 1864 in Mearns, Renfrewshire. So there is a chance that he lived past 1955.

Robert and Margaret were married in 1899 in Kinning Park.

Robert and his parents aren't on the 1881 census for Scotland but two of his siblings are staying with their Irish Grandparents in Busby.

Annie later witnessed the marriage.

I should be able to look up the local directories to see who else was living at Ingleston Street in 1928 but it won't be family. Going back and forward I should also be able to estimate when Robert arrived in Greenock. Unfortunately theonly major gap in the local directories from 1832ish is the period from 1939 - 1952 when none were produced. By this time the Trade Directories had evolved into postal directories but occupations were given. I'll have a look for Robert Andersons, Retired Puddlers or Brass Moulders, from 1955.

If you've been searching for Robert's death using 1864 as the birth date you may have missed him.

I've not checked but there are probably a good few Robert Anderson's deaths between 1927 and 1955. Born 3 years either side of 1874.
Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).

Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

By the by, Robert and Margaret had a daughter, Margaret Parker, who married age 18 in 1917 to James Johnstone.

The Andersons were probably living at 9 Market Street, Pollockshields at that time so moved to Greenock sometime after that.

Despite IGI saying that Robert's father, Alexander and Mother, Matilda Davidson, were both born in Mearns. They were both born in Ireland very probably Antrim.

Robert's grandmother, Agnes (Rae) Anderson died in 1887 in Pollockshaws (her age was reported incorrectly as 69). This is Agnes in 1881:

So we now know that Alexander, Robert's dad, moved from Ireland to Stirling sometime between 1836 and 1837 when Letitia was born. It seems that Robert died before 1841.
