Hello,
Got a new surname this week - TUDHOPE - now trying to fit the puzzle pieces together. My 5x great grandparents were Marian (Marion, Marcin) TUDHOPE (TITOP, TUTOP) & Thomas HAMILTON who married April 11, 1774 in Lesmahagow, LKS. Marian was reportedly born 1749-53 Lesmahagow LKS. Looking for parents for either spouse - Marian TUDHOPE's in particular.
Their son, George HAMILTON, married Margaret BLACK. Not sure where/when - maybe Carnwath? About 1850, George & Margaret took part of their nearly grown family - George, John, Catherine & Margaret - up to Kilberry, Argyllshire to farm. Census gives the 4 children's birthplace as Carnwath. The HAMILTON name died out about 1930, but there are likely descendants there still.
Thanks very much!
Mary

Hi Mary
Have you been able to make any progress with your search since your post - shame you've had no replies. It’s well worth updating your post from time to time as new members are joining up regularly and who knows – one of them might recognise your family or the area you are searching in.
Cheers

Re: HAMILTON TUDHOPE BLACK.....
Hi Mary,
Came across your post when I googled Tudhope/Hamilton.
I am a descendant of this family too, but from the elder brother of 'your' George. My 4xGreat grandfather was James Hamilton who married Margaret Steel.
Despite extensive searching I have never found the parents of Thomas and Marion though the usual Scots naming convention would suggest that Andrew was the father of Thomas and James/Katherine the parents of Marion.
I have a lot of information on the families post 1774 if you are interested.
Best wishes,
John

Re: HAMILTON TUDHOPE BLACK.....
Hi there I think I am a descendent of this branch somewhere too.
My ancestors (Hamiltons) moved from Kilberry in the 1870s I believe to farm in Fife. I'm not exactly sure how many of the family moved through. They farmed at a place called Brucehaven after moving from Kilberry (they may even have farmed elsewhere in Argyll too).
