Baillies From Kilsyth.....

Post by Fiona C Davidson » Sun Apr 30, 2006 5:19 am

Hi

I'd like a bit of direction about where to from here.

My great great grand mother was called Ann Baillie. She married William Davidson, from Scotland, in Dunedin, New Zealand in 1864. Her brother Mackray Baillie, a stonemason like William, was a witness at their wedding. In the local Dunedin newspaper the wedding announcement said thier names, the date of the marriage etc and added that Ann was the granddaughter of the Earl of Mar. Ann's parents were Thomas Baillie and Rebecca (sometimes Robina) Ralston. The Mar relationship doesn't appear to be on the Baillie side.

How can I prove or disprove this Ann - Earl of Mar relationship.

Who was the Earl of Mar?

Appreciate any where to from here advice please.

New Zealand
I'm currently researching Sutherland, Davidson, Baillie (Kilsyth), Wilson (Dunoon), Paton (Dunoonn) in Scotland.
