SIVEWRIGHT'S - Aust/NZ.....

Post by Phil Sivewright » Tue May 09, 2006 9:54 pm

I am researching the ancestors of William Sivewright and Hannah (nee Cracknell(ele) during my two year stay in the UK and would be interested to make contact with any who can assist.
Allthough I have no documented evidence, family discussions suggest GGGf arrived in NSW Aust, after spending time in the British forces, stationed in India. GGGm Hannah travelled from England to Aust - Apr 1857- arriving in July of same year. They met in Sydney, Aust and were married in Kamaruka, NSW in 1859.
Whilst I am more concerned with the Sivewright lineage, any information would be most useful.
As mentioned documentation is very limited but some facts I do have include
Year of birth of William - 1820
Register of birth CHAPEL of GARIOCH, Scotland
Death of William - 1883 Bombala NSW
Father's Name - Wiiliam
Mothers Name - Ann ?

Phil

There is a birth for a William SIVEWRIGHT

on the International Genealogical Index www.familysearch.org

Date of birth 31 12 1818
Date of christening 01 January 1819 Chapel of Garioch

Father William SIVEWRIGHT
Mother Ann WATT

Could this be yours? Where did you get 1820 as his date of birth?

Best wishes
Catriona

Catriona,
Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have a copy of Hanahs Obiturary on her death. She died on her 96th BDay in 1931 and it also states her Husband pre deceased her by 48 yrs. The 1820 B.D. is only a ball park figure and has been arrived at by working backwards and guess work. Your research does sound that it may work. However you mention a B.D. of 1881 and then a christening date of 1819 ??? Is this B.D. correct ? If the Christening date is right then I think we definitely have a great lead. Thanks for that

Phil

Phil

Sorry, but I reversed the numbers. it should have read b.1818!

Seems hopeful since you say you had no definite birth date.

Best wishes
