WILLIAM BUDGE born Caithness 1880.....

Post by caithnesslass » Mon May 22, 2006 1:03 pm

William Budge was born in Caithness in 1880
He went to Canada in 1906 and his brother David followed a few years later. David had an address in Manitoba, but I have no address for William.

If anyone has Budge / Caithness connections in Canada, would you kindly ask around for any information - marriage, date of death etc. I would be so grateful.

Many thanks

Hi there Freida

Have you had any luck progressing your search? It’s also worth looking at the sources and resources sections on TS for helpful suggestions, and if you’ve got specific questions, don’t hesitate to post them – someone might be able to help you.

It’s well worth updating your post from time to time as new members are joining up regularly and who knows – one of them might recognise your family or the area you are searching in.

William Budge in Canada

Post by caithnesslass » Sat Jul 15, 2006 11:01 am

Hallo Liz,

I am still searching for information on William Budge. He went to Canada in 1906 but I have no address!

He was born in Caithness in 1880 and his skills were as Cooper, and Stone Mason. I feel he would have worked in the building trade at that time.

His brother David lived in Winnipeg - it's possible they lived near each other.

If I could find an address I would then try to get his death certificate..

Thank you for your helpful suggestion

Hi CL

Bit of a coincidence here! My own great grandfather and his second wife (plus 4 children from his first family) left Scotland in 1909 for Canada and eventually their family ended up in Winnepeg and a few points further west.

I went to Canada a good few years ago now, to visit them - it was very strange but very nice to meet people that I'd only heard my gran talking about.

My great grandfather was a stone mason, but he ended up working on the Canadian Pacific Railway!

William Budge - Canada

Good for you Liz - I'm so glad you found your relations in Canada.

I still have found nothing on my grandfather ! He went out one hundred years ago ! But I have no address - yet !

I am waiting for a Marriage Cert for his brother in Canada, that may give me some idea of where they were living.

Happy hunting,
CL
