I have found a DC for Elisabeth Betts Robb. I am trying to make out the Mothers Madien name. Looks like Jane Foole or Foote?

Hi Pandabean
It looks like Foote

There is an IGI record for a marriage of Andrew Betts and Jean Foot 13 JAN 1795 Bo'Ness, West Lothian :-k

But this would mean they were wed for 23 years before Elizabeth was born?

According to IGI
Andrew Betts and Jean Foote had a daughter Elizabeth christened on 21st December 1808 in Falkirk
Any chance your Elizabeth could really have been 84 when she died?....

Careful......

There appear to be 2 Elizabeth Betts born to Andrew Betts & Jean Foote:

ELIZABETH BETT Christening: 02 DEC 1808 Falkirk, Stirling, Scotland
Father: ANDREW BETT Mother: JEAN FOOTE
Batch C195112

ELIZABETH BETT Christening: 21 DEC 1808 Falkirk, Stirling, Scotland
Father: ANDREW BETT Mother: JEAN FOOTE
Batch C119702

She married George Robb in 1838:
ELISABETH BETTS
Spouse: GEORGE ROBB
Marriage: 24 JUN 1838 Linlithgow, West Lothian, Scotland

So according to her Death cert. she would have just been 19 but the Births in the IGI would make her 29 [ a little more belivable given her parent's marriage date]

I wonder what ages she has in the census ?

Hi Wilma
Did I miss something here? It wouldn't be the first dense moment I've had this week!
So according to her Death cert. she would have just been 19 but the Births in the IGI would make her 29 [ a little more belivable given her parent's marriage date]
If she was born 1808, and died 1892, that makes her about 84 at the time time of death, surely? Have I got the right woman?
But this would mean they were wed for 23 years before Elizabeth was born?
Could she maybe be the last of a large number of children?

best wishes
Lesley

Check the 1841 census for Polmont and you will see Elizabeth is 25 (therefore aged between 25 and 30)
You will also get the added bonus of her parents Andrew Betts and Jean Foote on the opposite page

In later census she is born c1811 or c1813

Jim

Edit: Why Polmont?.... I done a parent search on IGI for George Robb and Elizabeth Betts :)

Hi all
Could this be her in the 1881?

A bit younger than expected, but about right for her given age at death.

LesleyB - I found that record as well on the census. It is quite possibly her as she does have a grandson called William who was born in Cumbernauld and he is roughly the correct age. As for the Lang I havent worked that one out yet.

I found a whole host of Robb's (Peter, George and David) in the 1881 census and they all seem to have roughly the correct ages and same birthplaces. I am yet to check whether any of them are the same sons of Elisabeth and George.

Would it be possible for some more help? I have found the DCs of William and Ann Stevenson Ross. I cant make out the mothers Maiden names. Also I cant make out the causes of death on either of them.
