Help deciphering image (Margaret Trainer).....

Post by catbug » Sun Jun 04, 2006 11:46 pm

Hello,

Can anyone help me to decipher the following image:- http://talkingscot.com/gallery/displayi ... p?pos=-586

I am specifically interested in the section I have placed a red box around, as I have figured out the rest of it. So far, in the red box, I can read "Margaret Donaldson, her (x) mark, ??".

If anyone could help with this it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Cat

Hi Cat
Looks to me like "Neibour, (present) " - suggest neighbour?

Then
M? or W? Leach?
Registrar, witness

Best wishes
Lesley

I agree with Lesley,

Margaret Donaldson, her X mark nei(gh)bour
W(?) Leach Registrar Witness

The registrar was witnessing that it was Margaret Donaldson that made the X mark.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Lesley,

Thanks for such a quick reply. It does look like "neibour, present" now you mention it (funny, that ). It's a pity in a way as I was hoping it would be some sort of distant family member or something, to try and shed some light on a HUGE brickwall, regarding her parents, I've had for years now. Oh well, back to the drawing board :D .

Thanks once more for your help,

Cat
