I have an image on the gallery and I would like help with the surname of the bride. I thought it was Willock Hunter, but the SP index has it as "Willock Li...."
Thanks in advance,
Nina

Hi Nina
I'm not so sure I agree with the Hunter bit. Could you upload more of the cert so we can compare more of the registrar's handwriting?
Regards
Ellen.

Hi all
Almost looks like Jean Willock Linton Sinclair to me. Just not sure about that "o" - seems very flat. Almost like a letter "e" - Linten maybe - but I think the problem is that the "o" has been left open, & has not been closed. I reckon its Linton.
Best wishes
Lesley

Thanks for the upload Lesley.
I am not entirely sure of her christian name, as she is a relatively new find. Also the marriage takes place in 1924 (so no hope of finding coroborative census info under Carson) and she seems to have been adopted, as the notation under the parents' names on the marriage registration indicate. But I am hopeful of finding out a bit more about her if I can find out her proper name.
Thanks again all,
Nina

Mystery solved!
Well after a bit of guesswork from all of you, and a lot of help from Frannie, I found that the name is Jean Willock Linton Sinclair. Frannie looked for a birth for Jean, and found one!
Jean's real parents were Andrew Marshall Linton and Jane Willock Cook. Jane Willock Cook had a sister Ellen Taylor Cook, according to the IGI. This Ellen (or Helen as Jean's marriage registration) married Peter Sinclair and adopted young Jean when presumably her own parents died.
Thank you all, especially Frannie who thought of looking for a birth!
