I am seeking information on the following Thompson people.
1./ Robert Thompson- dob:-C:-1859 possibly Troqueer
2./ Janet (Jessie) Thompson-dob:-C:-1861,possibly Troqueer.

Hi Baldy

You need to look in Kirkcubright. Isabellas death is easy to find using maiden name and married name. From this you'll know if her hubbie were still living and help to narrow up his death. In 1871 Census there is only one Isabella age 35 in Kirkcubright so not hard at all to find the family then. This is the family in 1881:

Hi again

THe first three births are easily found on the IGI index at http://www.familysearch.org

1. ROBERT THOMSON - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 27 JAN 1859 Troqueer, Kirkcudbright, Scotland

2. ALEXANDER THOMSON - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Male Birth: 28 SEP 1862 Troqueer, Kirkcudbright, Scotland

3. JANET THOMSON - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Birth: 10 JAN 1861 Kirkmahoe, Dumfries, Scotland

Looks like wee Elizabeth just missed being included due to the cut off dates.

A further look into the 1881 census show a possible (but not confirmed!!)Alexander....

I can't at the moment define son Robert THOMSON on the 1881 but he must have been there as you'll find him informing for his father's death some years later....and from his location stated on the DC you'll find him on the 1901 census (note there are two just to trick you so choose this one...864/00 005/00 012) and from this you can find the birth of his son and from this you can find Robert's marriage.

How's that for a breadcrumb trail?

Best wishes
Jean
