Peter and Angus
I have a letter from John to James, stating that Peter and Angus had married and had large families. Also have another letter dated July 1859 to James from John informing him of Petros death, but does not mention when or where all it said was that he died alone without a friend or family. He attached another letter to this one with the details, which has not survived.
Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated

Hi Jane
There were two deaths of Peter Campbells which looked promising on SP, but I don't think he is either of these:
1856 CAMPBELL PETER M 54 DUNDEE FIRST DISTRICT DUNDEE CITY/ANGUS 282/01 0979
Father Roger Campbell, (a slater) mother Mary Marshall, married - but does not give wife's name. Flax handloom weaver. However, wife was the informant - name was Rosena/Rosina? (no dot on the "i" that I can see) Campbell.
1857 CAMPBELL PETER M 53 PERTH BURGH /PERTH 387/01 0214
school master, lunatic prisoner (!), single. Father was Allan Campbell, no mother given. Death informant ws the chief warden, (general prison, Perth) so not sure how accurate that father's name is likely to be....
- Just mentioning them so you don't waste credits looking at them (like I've just done!!
).
Have you tried looking for them in the 1841 & 51 census? Not an easy job with that surname though.... worth a check at Freecen maybe? www.freecen.org.uk
Best wishes
Lesley
