William Gallacher & Susan Ginn.....

Post by Jack » Sun Jul 02, 2006 11:41 am

Hi Aimms,
Did you post a query about the DC of a William "GALLACHER / GALLOCHER" somewhere? :?
The reason i ask is because i found this below in a drafts folder.
Or has it come to the stage that i'm now imagining things....
Maybe i need a long holiday.

This doesn't help find William's DC any, and you'll know of the marriage & children.
You may already have the 1861 census too; but in case not - is this the "GALLACHERs" indexed as GALLOWAY?
The birth address of James b.1861 might settle it.

Jack It was me with the elusive Gallachers. As you an see the variety of the spellings has been a real hindrance. It seems to be the right ones I eventually found Williams Dc some sort of accident crushing his legs. Can I ask how you came about the details?

Hi Aimms,
The marriage & children details were from the IGI,
and the census was from the original page on film at The Mitchell Library, Glasgow.
But firstly i'd searched Des Garrity's useful 1861 Lanarkshire index to get the ref. no.
The GALLOWAYs were the only one that seemed to fit - couldn't see the family under GALLACHER or similar.

Thanks Jack its them and I can start to investigate William a bit more. I thought I had found every spelling of Gallacher but I never checked Galloway!
