Hello Ellen,

It looks like they were married in 1862. (Note the spelling of Robert's surname, it's the same on SP)

From the IGI-

ROBERT MCALISTER

Marriages:
Spouse: MARGARET KITCHEN
Marriage: 07 MAR 1862 Port Glasgow, Renfrew, Scotland

Regards,
Annette M

Hello Ellen,

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... search.asp

A little bit about it here - http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3433

If you've never accessed the site then you are going to have a great time!! :D
Remember you can do a parent search by putting both names in the mother and father boxes and if the children have been registered (up to 1875) a list will be generated.

Happy hunting,
Annette M

You'll also find that it is sometimes more economic to search on the Family Search site that nelmit gave you the link for, BEFORE searching for the image on SP, as you can often get enough information to avoid the costly viewing of the wrong image/s

Also, if you find a definite relative which was submitted by a member and there is a "Details" link on the page, click on it and you might discover distant relatives researching the same family as you.

I've just written off to five folks in the USA who have one of my rellies in their ancestry. \:D/

As nelmit says - you'll have a great time on there. :D
