Hi thomsos

If you know the other members of the family from the 1861 census then it's quite easy to find the marriage of one of the daughters in 1862 and then do a parent search on the IGI to see if this daughter and her hubbie stayed in Scotland and had children and sure enough....they did....and from the IGI list of their children you can pick up where they must have been living in 1871....and so then look them up in that census at that location.....and see who else is in their household.

Best wishes
Jean

I have the marriage cert of her daughter Barbara Todd Bryce and her hubby John Thomson, who married 1862 Cambusnethan, and I have Eliz on the 1871 Kilmarnock census living with them, and I have Babs and John on the 1881 census, but I can't find out where or when Eliz Bryce died.

Hi thomsos

I've been trying to look further but am at work right now and away from my usual resources! :? Have you located her other daughter in 1881 to find out if she was with them?? I believe this one married in 1861 and the IGI search places children to them in the Midlothian area. Looks like Elizabeth's son died unmarried so no need to chase him down. I've looked for a possible second marriage for Elizabeth but so far haven't found one. I can't believe she left Scotland so must be there somewhere :-k Will keep looking.....

Best wishes

Jean,
There is a Elizabeth Bryce in the St Cuthbert's, Edinburgh 1881 census, born 1817 Dunsyre, Lanark, that where Alexander was born, occ. housekeeper to Robert Forrest, she is unmarried, could this be a possible match, but even if it is, I still cannot find a death for any Elizabeth Bryce,
not been able to find her other daughter Janes marriage yet, not to sure how to go about that :(

Hi thomsos

The 1881 housekeeper very well could be her. Unfortunately this fellow seems to be remarried in 1891 with no housekeeper in sight :?

You'll find Jane's marriage in 1861 Cambusnethan.

Just realized there is another son that I didn't pick up from the 1861 census. Have you tried tracking him down?

But you're right....the DC is still eluding us..... :?

Hi thomsos

Well.....still no sure DC for Elizabeth....but once you find the DC for Jane you'll know that Elizabeth was still alive then but dead upon the DC of Barbara. That's as far as I've gotten to :?
