Parents of Isabella Ramsay.....

Post by William Peacock » Wed Aug 09, 2006 5:04 pm

My great great grandmother, Isabella Ramsay was born in Dundee in 1807. Her marriage record to my ggreat grandfather in 1826 shows her father as William. I would really like to know who her parents were and if they were Dundee Ramsays. Can anyone help ?

Hi William
Do you know if she survived unil after 1855 in Scotland? If so her death entry should show her parents.
The 1851 census should give her place of birth too. (again, depends on her still being around for that one!)

Best wishes
Lesley

A search on scotlandspeople for an Isabella born 1807 returns 1 match, possibly yours to work on ?. You wont be able to view the original entry but for 1 credit it it will give you parents names.

Parents of Isabella Ramsay

Isabella and her husband and family came to Canada circa 1849-50 and she died here. The 1841 Dundee census however has her listed as having been born in Dundee. What I really want to know is who her parents were. I shall take your advice and go to Scotland's People, if they can give me that information. Thanks for the replies.

Hi William
A death record in Canada would be worth tracking in that case.

As any records of her here in Scotland is going to be pre-1855, there will be not much other than the 1841 census to see on Scotlands People as the pre-1855 OPR records are not yet digitised.

Have you tried a search on the IGI?
