William Bruce - Mystery disappearance.....

Post by darylrodger » Fri Aug 11, 2006 9:59 pm

Hi Again,

Just thought I'd try this question. I have an ancestor on my mum's side of the family, who apparently disappeared in 1918. According to family lore, he was supposed to be on his way overseas (possibly South Africa) and he was never heard of again. He was a master stonemason, and came from Brechin, c.1870's.

Any ideas ?

Daryl

Hello Daryl,

A name might help, but if you know he left the country in 1918 then ...:?

PS I think you would have a great time at Park Circus. :)

On the IGI site
www.familysearch.org
there are some Marriages and Deaths by the name William Bruce in South Africa.
I think some more clues I E Parents names would help :!:

Hi Daryl,

I guess that this isn't what you were hoping for, i.e. information on where William Bruce emigrated to. However, just for the sake of completeness, William had sisters:-

Margaret Helen BRUCE, 5 Oct 1865
Amelia Sievwright " , 8 May 1869
Betsy Hillock " , 9 Jun 1867
