Mysterious Rodger Family.....

Post by darylrodger » Fri Aug 25, 2006 9:41 pm

Hi Everyone,

Can anyone help me with finding out any info on my husband's ancestors ? I am particularly interested in William Rodger, born c. 1798 possibly in Bothwell, Lanarkshire. He married a Janet Johnston in 1831, either in Old/New Monklands. He died on 29th Sept in 344 Crown St, Glasgow in 1880. He was 82 years old. His parents were William (a farmer) & Mary, nee Rodger.

Thanks

Daryl

Hi Daryl

The only likely candidates in that time frame are
from the IGI

WILLIAM ROGER – Mary Gibb M116334
Marriage: 13 JUL 1783 Carstairs, Lanark, Scotland

He was probably from the parish of Monkland and she was from Lanark.

Are you sure that Mary's maiden name was also Rodger? Do you have an OPR entry for them to confirm?
If you follow up the IGI county search by using the same date parameters you should be able to locate family from this marriage and see if it is a possible. The parishes are not far apart.
