Hi

Can anyone help me with Campbelton as an ancsetore was living there at the time of her marriage. Helen Smith parents Alexander Smith and Helen Ross she could have been born in Petty Inverness-shire as the LDS give her birth as 9 September 1838 the year is right as she maarried in 1860 age 22.

Strangely enough when I visited the ANEFHS a few weeks ago, one of my lot's place of birth on the IGI was Petty Inverness.

When I looked at the actual film in the history centre the address was Campbelltown (note the double LL) The only one I knew of was in Argyle(with a single L)

A lady at the centre has a very useful little book that lists all the places in the region and their parishes. Campbelltown (double LL) is in the parish of Ardersier, right next door to Petty !!!

Hi Jean

Altough I had spelt Campbeltown with 1 [L] this was just natural for me do do so but on looking closely at the print off I got from SP I notice it has 2 LL's. I now now what the parish is as I could not make it out all I could make out was the first letter A many thanks for your help in that area. I shall have to get that little book as it will help me for area's up in the Highlands.
