Two unusual names, especially here in Fife, and distantly related to me (circa 1760's).
Can anyone tell me where the families may have originated?
Do you have any such names in your family tree?

Hi Jake
Just a guess, but its likely these names may have quite a few alternative spellings:
Bridgefoort might be Bridgeford/Bridgefort
and I'd guess
Braedfurd would likely be Braidford, or even Bradford at other times. Even Braidfoot at a stretch!
If you are near a library have a look for Black's surnames of Scotland (usually in the reference section) and see what he suggests. Kirkcaldy should have it - Cupar certainly do!
Best wishes

Hi Jake,
I couldn’t find the name Bridgefoort listed in Black’s surname book. However, here’s what it stays for Bridgefoord:
A surname in Banchory-Devenick, Aberdeen-Kincardine shires (Henderson, Banchory-Devenick, p 313-314). Isobel Brigfuird in Steanhyve (Stonehaven) 1637 (St. Andrews).
Nothing listed for Braedfurd.
