Thought I was on a roll til I found that Patrick died in 1891 before the census but after the birth of his daughter.

I am having a couple problems with deciphering some of the certs:

Firstly Patrick's parents. At first I thought it was William but it seems to look like Philan?

Secondly I found that Annie (Roseanne) remarried to a Hunter between 1891 and 1901. I noticed that on the 1901 census there is a daughter called Euphemia "?" She was born in 1886 but I cant make out the second letter to do a search on her.

Hope someone can help.

Philan is not an uncommon Irish name.

I think it is Euphemia Peebles

McDonald or MacDonald (some couldn't make up their mind!), Bonner, Crichton, McKillop, Campbell, Cameron, Gitrig (+other spellings), Clark, Sloan, Stewart, McCutcheon, Ireland (the surname)

Hi Andy

I cant magnify this but it looks to me like Peebles after Euphemia and i would agree with Philan.

Hi,

I would suggest the name Phelim for this and he has a famous namesake,

Possibly a relation.

Thanks for the names. I cant tell whether Patrick was born in Scotland or not as he doesnt appear on the census for 1891 and I havent looked at the 1881 census for him.

There are no death records on SP for a Philan O'Neill :( So they did not come over to Scotland with their son. :(

I have uploaded the Marriage cert for Patrick and Rosanne (Annie) and on it, it has Patrick's mothers maiden name. Can anyone make it out?

Susan O'Keefe?, O'Reefe.

I also notice that one of the witnesses is Elizabeth O'Neill. So did the family all move together then? :?:
