Campbell/Fowler.....

Post by Donna » Tue Apr 12, 2005 8:32 pm

Good afternoon all, I am looking for Alexandrina Campbell born about 1877 in Greenock, Renfrew, Scotland.

Her parents were Joseph Campbell and Alexandrina Franicllina Maria Noble (also known as Maria, Lena or Lina) She married a second time to a Hewitt. I have her death certificate from 1923. Her daughter signed it as Lina Fowler address 29 Dowanhill (?) Street, Patrick, Glasgow Any help on trying to find more information on the daughter (Fowler) will be greatly appreciated. I have no other information on her.

Hi Donna

The 1881 census shows Alexandrina living at 59 Dalrymple Street, West Greenock, Renfrew aged 4 years. Her mother is shown as Francelina Campbell aged 33 and born in Brazil. Her father Jospeh Campbell is also there and another daughter Isabella Campbell born in Greenock aged 2 years. Alexandrina went on to marry a William Fowler in 1900 and you can find the details of this marriage on the Scotlands People web site. It took place in the district of Blythswood, Burgh of Glasgow and her name shows as Lena. You should be able to trace her movements via the later censuses available also at SP.

Hope this helps and happy hunting.

Hi Annette, Thank you for some insite on Lina Fowler. I have all the information on her parents but was unable to find out where she had gone to. I know also that Isabella was a Nun with the Fransican Covent in Glasgow. The Sister's there were very kind to send me information on her life as a Nun as well as to her final days in 1947.

I will look futher into getting more information on Lina Fowler. Now I have a husbands name which will help more. Thanks again for your help.
