Hello Michelle and Catriona
I havent been online for a few days as I am having troubles with my internet connection it is taking ages to load a page, slower than dial up
I have a line of Alexander Stewarts in my family, and when I started this game I ended up chasing the wrong one. Eventually I did a backward search finding DC's, BC's and MC's once I got my grandfathers BC. Using the female DC search facility was also a great help.
I can tell you that looking for Alexander Stewarts is a minefield. Before I got on the right track I was searching for my grandfathers BC and had 7 pages of names that fitted the time frame, only problem was I was one year short in my search criteria
It was through the assistance of DWW and others on the old SP forum that I eventually found him. And of course the kind folk on this forum.
Even so going back further there were instances where Alec and his wife had more than one entry for their marriages, in other words same names different deid punters.
My own Alec born C1813 is not the one you are looking for as I found his DC in 1886.
My only suggestion Michelle is to work carefully back from the ones you have and try to match dates and areas. Perhaps having a look at the 1841 census might help.
You do have my sympathy though looking for Alexander Stewart!

Stewarts in Lochbroom and Ardmair
Hello there!
My mother was a Stewart from Rhue which is on Lochbroom
and I will get in touch with my cousin Kenneth Stewart who has done the Stewarts from Rhue's genealogy.
My own recollection is that Rhue was settled in 1835 - which includes the Stewarts - but they may be earlier. There may also have been a Stewart family on Isle Martin which is in the bay at Ardmair.
I will try and get more information and return to you.
A number of Stewarts went to Canada - Vancouver area , I understand in the late 19th century.
I will come back if I find out anything new.
Regards
K J B S MacLeod
