Janet Sharp was born about 1786 i have found no trace of her parents and would like some help if possible she had her first child in Stow 1806 she m David Smail i am looking for her parents if possible Thanks Kate

My first comment is don't limit yourself to Janet. The name seems to have been much more vague then. Jane, Jean, and Janet seemed in many cases to be used interchangably. For instance, searches for J*a*n* work fairly well on ScotlandsPeople.

That far back, she easily be Jennet as well, with 1 or 2 ns & 1 or 2 ts.
