Annie and James married at Allander Terr, Milngavie on May 9, 1890.
James was from Ireland, later find out from the 1901 census he was from Tyrone the same county as my Grandfather who married James and Annies 2nd daughter)
His father was patrick Savage a farm laborer and mother was Catherine Woods Savage.
James worked at the waterworks plant there in Milngavie (I have been there and walked the gorunds)
Annie worked .at the papermill which is now gone and the grounds house the local library and other buildings.
The witnesses to this marriage were Francis Keary and Mary Jane Lang.
Their children were:
Elizabeth
Catherine
James
Alice
Andrew all born in Milngavie
Ann born in Durham England
Samuel
Isabel both born Simonstown, SA
The family had moved there around 1902. James worked for Sir John Jackson Ltd helping to build the dry dock there.
Around 1909, something .happened in the marriage and Annie brought all 8 children back to Clydebank, Scotland
Including my pregnant Grandmother. By March of 1910 my Grandfather, Robert Samuel Taylor/Trainor arrived from SA and they married, a day before their first son was born. Robert was born a Taylor in Tyrone, ireland. His family arrived in Birkenhead, England in the late 1880's or so. He served in the Boer War but deserted. I am assuming he found his way to Simonstown area, met or worked for or with James Savage. Probably came home for dinner with James and he fell in love with the second daughter, my Grandmother, Catherine and the rest is history.
They would have 5 children, including my Mom, who migrated to the states in the late 1940's. Robert Trainor ended up working for John Brown Co and helped build the Queen Mary.
James and Annie Cooper Savage married 1890 in Milngavie.....

Hi Clannessie
I do hope that your research is moving along satisfactorily.
You were able to provide a lot of informatio in the above post. Was there any particular part of this research for which you wanted help or were you just hoping that someone would recognise some of the names and dates and respond?
Unfortuanately there hasn't yet been a response until now.
Best wishes

I have two suggestions for you.
Firstly, have a look at the following link
http://talkingscot.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=17 where you will find helpful advice about Irish research.
Secondly, post the main facts about James Savage and his parents in the Ireland Forum. There may well be people with Irish interests who could help and who haven't noticed your post in the Scottish People Forum.
Best wishes
