I have just been contacted by a possible Family member. Of Archibald Bannatyne Ballantine (born Kintyre Argyll 1790) married to Janet Mackinnon McKinnon McKennon (born Kilmory, Buteshire) . Married 22nd august 1815, Kilmorey, Bute. and my GGGrandParents.
Apparently their daughter Jessie (Janet) 19/03/1830 BALLANTINE JANET Parents- ARCHIBALD BALLANTINE / JANET MC KINNON FR472 KILMORY, SHISKINE ETC GROS-554/00 0003, married a Samuel Baird.
I have always avoided both the name BAIRD and any Janet Bannatyne (s). everyone wants a Janet BANNATYNE reference (from the 16th Century preferably).
And everyone wants to be related to a BAIRD- royalty, knights of old etc. Baird, laird, they get it mixed up. Hangover form the 70-80's pursuit of Scots origins.
Anyone know Samuel Baird & his spouse Jessie Janet Bannatyne? Married 15 Jun 1858 Kilmory Island of Bute ? Children Mary, Grace, William, George, Archibald, Annie.
Maybe they were really Currie Curry Sillars McLeod Miller Millar BANNATYNE ers and not my BANNATYNE BALLANTINE BALLANTYNE
