Appeared to be the only one but that goes for nothing with wee farms and steadings dotted all over the hils in Scotland. No doubt there are two or three more since we had lots of bogs in years gone by.Bogend is a settlement in South Ayrshire, Scotland. Nearby places are Adamhill, Coodham, Craigie, Dundonald, Fail, Gatehead, Riccarton, Rosemount

Hi Michele,
There is (was?) a Bogend in Longside parish. To see it on a parish map from the 1890s,
http://www.nls.uk/digitallibrary/map/ea ... _list.html
Select sheet 87 - Peterhead.
Longside is the large yellow-coloured parish just east of the centre of the map.
Click on the bottom left corner of that parish until the place names become legible.
There are a couple of grid-lines that cross in that corner of the parish.
Immediately north-east of the cross of these grid lines is Bogend.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi Michele
On cue Andrew comes in with a place which probably fits the name Abernethy better than an Ayrshire location.
I would go for his suggestion.
