Hi flip
Any chance you know when Catherine died...and was it in Scotland? If so her parents should be named on her DC. Sounds like this would likely be in the newer records so perhaps not available online at SP (if she died in Scotland that is!) ...but...if you do happen to have a death date you can still send for a copy of her DC direct from GROS.
Best wishes
Jean

Hi Sarah
I have allot of info but it falls within the 100 yr rule, so i have to be careful in what i say i can pm exact dates, names
It also a very long story and confusing
Joseph Hunter Liddell was born in Armadale, i have his birth cert
He was born at 169 East Mains Street Armadale, on this cert there is a marraige date, His parents are listed as Robert Hunter and Catherine Flannigan. This marriage does not exist.
When i went to park circus, i got a copy of this cert it had corrected entry attached to it
Detaling that an offence against the registration act had been committed and Robert also know as ***** woud be deported back to his country or origin
4 years after this his mother now living at 30 mill Road Uddingston registers the birth at bothwell, with all the details that he was born at Armadle except that there is mention of her maiden name as Flannigan or her marriage to Robert
I have this second cert as well
I dont know when Catherine died also i dont know when she was born, i am unsure also if she did remarry, a search of Scotlands People shows 75 Catherine's dying between the twenties and 1955
I hope this make sense

Hi again,
I understand why you can't give all the details, but now I'm confused... if her maiden name was Flannigan, where does the Liddell come in? Or is that part of what is driving you crazy?
Was that the name she used when she registered the birth at Bothwell? Or does the Liddell only appear as Joseph's surname and no one else's?
Regards,
Sarah

Hi Sarah
this is what i suspect, Robert came into the country and to stay in the country registerd false details, got caught
The sheriff then deported him and told Catherine or the registrar to register the birth with the correct details which was done four years later at the same time he was deported.
I suspect that her real name was liddell, that is the name of my father.
Again it is just a suspicion, but if your partner was just deported you would not want register false details again, in fear of being caught
She usd liddell to register the birth at Bothwell, that is far as my logic takes me
Hope this makes sense

Hi flip
Ok then..... if your dad happened to marry in Scotland then when that occurred he would have stated who his parents were...including maiden name and occupation. You don't have to state details as this is getting too current for comfort here....but....have you seen the MC?? Does it help or hinder the facts so far?? Oh..one other thing...it should state whether his parents were living or deceased at the time of his marriage also. If you can determine from this when Catherine could have died or was dead by then it would help narrow up a window to search for her in......maybe
Best wishes

Hi flip
I just ran a random search for Catherine Liddell born anywhere from 1900-1904 in the hopes of finding one in or near the areas mentioned in your above statements. The results brought back 9 choices. Only 2 of which have no middle names. The first one was born in Bellshill in 1902. I threw caution to the wind and clicked to view it. The parents are named Thomas Liddell and Rose Ann Flannigan and they were married (according to this) in 1896 Blantyre. The name Flannigan is just too coincidental to ignore so I forged onward. A search of the death of Rose Ann by maiden name and married name only turns up one....in 1947...in Shotts.....and the informant.....was a grandson..... named Joseph Liddell. Now it's over to you to decide if this is your family. My instincts tell me it is. I hope I'm right.
Best wishes

Hiya Jean
I have got to concur, there are too many coincidences. The name Flannigan, Shotts is very close to were he was born in Armadale, My grandfather stopped using the name Hunter even on his grave stone he was Liddell, He would have been a young man in his twenties if he registered the death of Rose Ann Flannigan. The marriage only turning up one entry. In my opinion Jean you have hit it on the nail,
Words cannot comprehend how grateful i am for everbody's help in this mystery.
Many Many Thanks, i thought i was going to be stuck with this one forever
