Stephen McClay/Clason/Clayson.....
Hi! Can anybody help? I am looking for a Stephen McClay/Clason/Clayson born approx 1633, somewhere in Scotland (I know it's a big place!) possibly Sterlingshire. Also his brother William. Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Hi Siobhan
I checked IGI and they show a Stephen Clayson b c 1630 (d 1699) who married Elizabeth Perimerit 11 Nov 1654 in Stamford, Fairfield, Connecticut.
This was on Batch no F 501395
7 children. The only one named was
Samuel Clayson b c 1668 d. 6 May 1723.
I looked for Clayson in Scotland between 1600 and 1700 and there were no hits from the Old Parish records for that span. Neither did McLay yield any results.
I'm not sure where LDS derived their entries from but with the marriage taking place in the USA it may be from American sources. It does not appear to have a record here in Scotland.
Sorry I can't help but there may be others come along with the name somewhere in their tree.
