That'll teach me!

I've had a wee Agnes's Mammy and Daddy all wrong. It's what happens when you make assumptions!

She's there on the 1901 census with John and Agnes but I could never find her BC. Tried all the wildcards etc... Nuttin!

Well, I wouldn't have would I? I had her Mammy right, but her Daddy was the first husband! (Note to self - do the maths in future).

I didn't find out the mistake till I found (finally) her Mammy's DC. Informant Agnes Winton, daughter!

Found her MC - Wee Agnes's BC was now easy to find and she is now comfortably settled with her proper parents!

As I said - That'll teach me #-o

Hi Mary

Have done a similar thing myself

James McDonald aged 17 living with his Mammy and Daddy in 1871 in Moray. In 1881 found James McDonald, aged 27, living in the croft/farm next to his Mammy and Daddy.................or so I thought! Got his wife and kids from the 1881 census and left it at that, as he wasn't in my direct line.

Months later and a few credits to spare I found his d.c. on SP. Wrong Mammy and Daddy  Wrong McDonald family completely. [comp-hammer]

Good news is that yesterday James's ggg grand daughter got in touch with me. Still haven't found James........but his son, Alexander had went and gone and moved to Glasgow

How dare they move so far away

Jean
