John Galloway /Agnes Young.....

Post by frances » Tue Jan 23, 2007 6:02 pm

John Galloway (Silk Weaver) and Agnes Young were married 9th October 1819 in Loudon.

John was born c1796 and Agnes c1801.

I have found them on the 1841 census for the village of Chappleton? :? Glassford.

Would like to trace their parents-anyone any ideas?.

Thanks

Frances :D

Hi Janet

Many thanks for that.

I did have most of this information but wonder about the Agnes in the 1851 census(didn't see her) can you tell me if she is down as Andrew's mother. I will check the other entry for Agnes in the 1861 census another one that I didn't see.

I have printed off both these census and neither of them show Agnes with the family-were they separate entries?

Thanks again

Frances

The 1851 cd I have is only an index,so it doesn't give relationships.Possibly were separate households.1861 Agnes is down as lodger with Andrew Douglas 25 and Mary Douglas 67.

Hello Janet

I had a look at the entries on SP.Was interested to note the next entry on the 1851 census for Glassford. The Struthers family also feature in the family tree.

Thanks again for your help.

I've got Struthers in my tree too, but fairly distantly. My great-great grandmother's sister Elizabeth Corbet married a William Struthers (b. abt 1807), son of William Struthers & Margaret Kyle. They were from East Kilbride so it's likely there is some connectin. William & Elizabeth had 11 children, most of whom seem to have survived, so the tree is extensive!

Hi Janet

Anything you can find on Marion Struthers who married Andrew Galloway February 1847 Chapelton Glassford and died November 1881 would be really great. I know that Andrew married again in 1883 to a Jean Mcculloch.

Thanks again for your help
