Scoons From Tadshawhill Farm.....

Post by rquam » Mon Jan 29, 2007 8:01 pm

I am researching information about the Scoon family from Todshawhill Farm in Roberton Parish, Roxburghshire. The last residents were Robert b. 1812 and Mary b. 1812 (Nichol) Scoon and children of Mary, Margaret, James, and John (from 1841 census). They emigrated to the States around 1851-52. My grandfather on my mother's side was James Logan Scoon.

Robert's parents were John b. 1788 and Margaret b.1792 (Scott) Scoon. That is about as far back as I can reliably trace right now. Any additional information about the Scoons and/or Todshawhill farm would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard Quam

Hello Richard,

Welcome to TalkingScot!

Did you see the listing on IGI for a marriage of Robert Scoon and Mary Nichol, m. 29 Nov 1836?

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... _form=true

There's also a listing on Scotlandspeople for a marriage of Robert Scoon m. 29 Nov 1836.

I also googled "Todshawhill Farm" and here's a few links, which make mention.

Another avenue to follow, would be to check if someone else is researching this family on Rootsweb or Worldconnect?
