Welsh Brickwall

Hello everyone,
My 3 Great grandmother seems to just mysteriously appear in Dumfries in 1844. I have very little info on her and can't find a birth or any sign of her family before her marriage.Any ideas would be welcome as to what I could try next.
Here is what I have at present...

Elizabeth Welsh married Andrew Holden 3 Nov. 1844 Dumfries
(proclamations and banns of marriages...no other info just names and date)

1851 census Living with a family called Willany @ 41 Kirkgate Hawick, Roxburgh
Andrew Holden 26 Framesmith Journeyman Dumfries, Dumfrieshire
Elizabeth Holden 24 Framesmiths Wife Dumfries, Dumfrieshire
Robert Holden 8 Scholar Dumfries, Dumfrieshire
Elizabeth Holden 6 Scholar Dumfries, Dumfrieshire
Thomas Holden 3 Dumfries, Dumfrieshire
Andrew Holden 1 Dumfrieshire

1860 Death in Hawick, Roxburgh
Holden Elizabeth (wife of a Framesmith Journeyman)
1860 May 12th 7h 30m
Drumlanrig Place Hawick female 35 years
Thomas Welsh Shoemaker Journeyman (dec)
Elizabeth Welsh MS Steel (dec)
New Burial Ground Hawick as cert by Robert Milligan Cabinet Maker
Andrew Holden widower present

Andrew and Elizabeth had 9 children that I know of...
Robert Henry born abt 1843 Dumfries died 12 Jan 1906 Neilston
Elizabeth ch 17 Aug 1845 Dumfries died 2 July 1845
Thomas born 21 Aug 1848 Dumfries alive on 1861 census
Andrew born abt 1852 Dumfries alive on 1871 census (with step mother)
Joseph born abt 1854 Hawick alive on 1871 census (with step mother)
Mary born 18 Sept 1855 Hawick died 8 May 1856 Hawick
Agnes born 5 April 1857 Hawick died 1858 Hawick
Margaret born 18 Nov 1858 Hawick died 6 April 1859
Jessie born 29 April 1860 Hawick died 11 May 1860

I have tried variations on spellings and played "what if" for 2 years now with nothing really promising showing up.

Afraid all I could find was the marriage of Thomas Welsh and Elizabeth Steel on the IGI, but you probably have this already.

Hi Caroline,
I know there is a marriage in the OPRs for Thomas Welsh and Elizabeth Steel in Dumfries. but I can't find any birth for Elizabeth Welsh their daugher or any children for that matter.

Hi Heather

I have searched all the Elizabeths/Elizabeths of about the right age in Dumfriesshire in 1841 and come up with nothing. I suppose both of her parents could have died and she could have been in another county but I must admit there were no likely Elizabeth Welsh or Welch or whatevers anywhere else for that matter.

Does not seem to be in England either. I suppose that her parents could have been Irish and they could be back in Ireland. Mine have a tendency to wander back and forth.
