Where would I find a divorce?.....
I am still trying to knock down my brickwall and wondered about divorces 1820-1825. Where would I look please?

Hi Jean,
According to the book Alienated Affections: The Scottish Experience of Divorce and Separation, 1684-1830 by Leah Leneman, they are all to be found in the Edinburgh Commissary Court records at NAS (Refs CC8/5 and CC8/6) no matter where in Scotland the divorce took place. Unfortunately, these are no yet listed on the online catalogue. Under CC8/6 it says: "For cases 1801- 1835, see the lists in CC8/6/176," which in turn also lists CC8/20/6 as a possible reference.
I wrote to NAS in mid-December about a case in my own family, but have yet to hear back
Maybe you'll have more luck?
All the best,
Sarah
