i have alot of Lockharts in my family as first names going back to 1780 in Tain Ross and Cromity it goes back to my gr grandad x5 a lady in america e-mailed me to say that he was born of fornication to david urquhart and christy mcpherson i can not find anything else about the parents or wether the name lockhart goes further back can anyone help thank you

Can you maybe give us a little more about your 5th great grandfather and his wife & children? Was the 1780 date you mentioned about the time of his birth? Have you traced back as far as this through the generations? There appear to be a few mentions of Lockhart Urquhart in Midlothian on the IGI.
Did a later generation of your family live there?

yes i have traced lockhart urquhart from my gran through her mothers father (all deceased) with no information at all from anyone living just by my grans birth cert. it is truely amazing. the Lockharts i have have came from Tain (the furtherest back i have been able to go) and stayed in Edinburgh and Midlothian >i think the name may have been a marriage of an Urquhart and Lockhart and the oldest son being blessed with this name i would love to find out if it was true,being that i have 4 lockhart urquhart in my family line ending in the1880 thank you for replying
