Hi
I'm on a bit of a scrounge here. John Hamilton, Blacksmith born about 1816 in Kilmarnock died of Typhus fever at 60 Centre Street, Glasgow on 13th May 1865. His parents were Adam Hamilton and Marion Service.
His widow Mary Houston Neilson or Hamilton born around 1816 Ardrossan died 10th May 1874 also in Glasgow. Her parents were John Neilson and Martha Torrance both born in Ireland.
I wondered if there might be a poor relief application for one or other or both of them and if some really kind, nice person is going to the Mitchell anyway if he or she would mind having a wee look. Will be eternally grateful.

Thanks so much for looking Jim. I just hoped there might be something. Was at the Irish seminar on Saturday, taking careful note with the hope of eventually finding some of our Irish rellies, though my own ones might be easier, being nearer to the present.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it on Saturday... it would have been nice to meet up
Hope it went well.
It would be good to find out more on our Thomas... do you know if he was around for the 1851 census?
