Descendents of John Hill/Maggie Warnock, Lanark 1800s

Post by 133CRNE » Wed Mar 07, 2007 4:20 pm

Hi On behalf of my husband I'm looking for descendants John and Jane Hill who lived in Berryhill Rows, Cambusnethan in mid to late 1800s. John Hill was shoemaker or cobbler and Jane's maiden name could have been Cullen or Kellechen. According to census information they were born in Ireland.

They had a son also named John also born in Ireland who married Margaret (Maggie) Warnock of Biggar, Lanarkshire. John and Margaret had at least 2 daughters, Maggie and Jessie and 4 sons, John, Robert, David and Archibald. The father John Hill died in 1901 aged 78 years in Cambusnethan still in Berryhill. The son John Hill lost his wife Maggie in 1897 and remarried to a Jeannie Thomson. He died in Dalziel, Lanark in 1941 aged 88. John was a fireman in the coalmines. His death certificate was signed by his son Alexander.

I am particularly interested in finding out if John had a sister named Annie Hill who married in 1888 in Cambusnethan, Lanark to William McNeil. Annie died in 1909 aged 40.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who can help.

Regards

You'll find that marriage on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk . The digistised images will show you if she shares parents with John.
