Anyone researching this name......... around the Glasgow area?
If you have a McElwee who married an Whittle, later emigrated to Australia,I would love to hear from you.
Cheers,
Gillian

Hi Lesley,
I believe that my friend's Grandfather was a William McElwee and he was a plumber. His wife was Elsie.
She has no other info,as her parents both passed away without telling her anything else about her origins. She is an only child, and is now the only one left over here in Aus,so I guess her search is going to be difficult
thankyou for your reply Lesley.
Cheers from Aus.

Hi Gillian
there is a marriage in 1875 in paisley, renfrewshire between a william mcelwee and an elizabeth scott. i just wonder if this could be the couple you mention in your post.
if you want to look at this record it is on ScotlandsPeople website and there is a link to the website at the top of this page. you have to register which is free and then you have to pay £6 for 30 credits which lets you view about 5 records.
this will enable you to trace the line back further also
