Looking to trace descendants of James and Janet (Pollock) Neil - both born about 1804 - who lived in Tradeston, Lanarkshire 1840 to 1862.
They had five children. William was killed at work at age 20 in 1862, Andrew and Alex stayed in Scotland when the rest of family (John and James)moved to Jersey City, NJ USA about 1862 - 1864.
Anyone with Neils in their tree? Thanks.

Hi talkhugh,
A warm welcome to Talking Scot.
Sorry I don't have any Neils in my lot - well none found YET!
Have you tried searching for death records for Andrew and Alex? If you can find them you should be able to get their wives' names and work forward from there.
Good Luck

Hi Talkhugh
I do have some Neils in my lot but not much at all as there are my cousins fathers line, and not sure they are back far enough to 1804. The other reason is that up until about 1874 they were O'Neills, it was around this date that they changed to Neil.
Oh I nearly forgot
I do have a Helen Neil born 18 Oct 1800 to Robert Neil and Helen Young m 22 Jun 1789 in Dunbar East Lothian she was born in Duddingston Midlothian and she married a Peter Mathieson 30 May 1823 in Inveresk but siblings for her are a wee bit sparse (none so far)
Sorry I cant help you
Ps I wrote a wee bit sparse I have no idea why it has become numptie

Stewie,
Just thought I would reassure you that you're not crazy
It appears that the automatic censor is changing something you said to "numptie"
because whatever it was is too close to some word that it has been programmed to override. This happened the other day to another post with a perfectly innocent word in it that happened to resemble another word.
Hint: Are the last four letters of the word you intended to use something that might be censored? I think I can guess the word you meant. I'm afraid if I actually write the word it will turn it to "numptie" also and we'll get nowhere

Sarah

Hi Sarah
I PM'd Andrew and he gave me the explanation, same as yours and also regarding the last four letters of the "offending??" word.
You would have thought automatic censors would be set up to edit the offending words, not those with those letters in another word
Must try and remind myself during messages that the word police are on the lookout [-X
Now I need a![[5 cups] [5 cups]](./images/smilies/sm-5cups.gif)
