Searching for ancestors in Beveridge family
I am looking for information on David Beveridge, born 1832 in Dunfermline, Fifeshire Scotland, married in 19 May 1854 in Dunfermline to Jane Martin. They had a daughter named Jane martin Beveridge, born 1 May 1864. I can find them in 1861, 1871, and 1881 census records, but then they disappear. I know they died in Scotland. Does anyone have ideas on how to find them or their parents? Thanks.
CLARISSA

Hi Clarissa,
Welcome to Talking Scot!
Do you know when David and Jane died? Just wondering whether to check both 1891 and 1901 for them. Was the younger Jane married by 1891? I'll start looking, but just thought that if you had more details it might help-- the more the merrier!
All the best,
Sarah
P.S. Is he the coalminer I see in 1881 in Dysart?

Hi Clarissa,
A warm welcome to Talking Scotland.
Have you tried finding death certificates for David and Jane?
If they did die in Scotland you should be able to find their DC's on Scotland's People http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/
They should tell you their parents names.
Where were they in 1881? There are two possible deaths in Fife...
1888 BEVERIDGE DAVID M 56 DYSART /FIFE 426/00 0070
1892 BEVERIDGE DAVID M 62 BEATH /FIFE 410/00 0013

Hi Clarissa
Welcome to Talking Scot.
Do you have any further details on the family, e.g. what was David's occupation. What were the names of other children. How do you know they died in Scotland and do you believe they survived past 1881.
You will find David's death on the Scotland's people website in 1888 in Dysart in Fife. Jane survives him. This will give you the names of his parents if you don't already have them. Im struggling to find Jane but will look again.

Hi again,
Could this be Jessie and Helen in 1891? I know the places of birth don't match the 1881 census, but...
1891
17 Reform St, Dunfermline, Fife
Jessie Beveridge, 22, head, born Tranent, Haddington, Linen Weaver
Helen Beveridge, 16, sister, born Oakfield, Lanarkshire, Linen Weaver
Regards,
Sarah
(I see from Andrew's post that the place of birth for Jessie does fit with the birth record
)

Could this then be Jane with her mother (another Jane) in 1891? Seems like a pretty posh family for the widow of a coalminer... but if she was born in Kirkcaldy?
