Hi Souter and welcome to TalkingScot!

Unfortunately, we are unable to help you tracing living people. We have compiled some links to sites that will help you with that. See:

Wishing you the best in your search,

Hi Souter,

Welcome to TalkingScot!
If any of the following sounds familar or anyone knows how I might locate living relatives prior to my arrival in Scotland I would greatly appreciate hearing from you.
Paddyscar is correct, we can't help our members locate living relatives. But in your case, I think you're asking, that if anyone on this board is related to the family that you've listed to get in contact with you? Which is slightly different, because you're not posting living family members information here.

Now to get back to your original question. Based on my own personal experience, it is in fact possible to get in touch with living relatives from Scotland, but it may take some time and given your time frame, you might not have enough of it to establish a connection. But, never give up hope.
It took me two years, before I was able to make contact with my Morning family from Scotland. But all the hard work paid off, because I now have a relationship with 5 distant Morning cousins and 3 of us met in Scotland last year.

Here's a few of my suggestions

1. Post your request on as many genealogy boards as possible. Ancestry, Rootsweb and Worldconnect, worked for me.

2. You may also consider, local news boards too. Relatives read these too. ( I know because a relative contacted me, after reading my post)

3. Pick up the internet phone book and make contact with folk with the same last name in the area your family had lived in Scotland. Again this worked for me, because many of the Morning family remain in the Renfrewshire area of Scotland.

Good Luck
Marilyn
