I've managed to track my great grandfather Malcolm Munro back to his father John Munro and his grand father Malcolm Munro. On his father's death record, his grandfather is listed as Malcolm Munro, Farmer in Belhelvie. He was deceased by 1876 when John died. This lead me to the wills and testaments section where I found one for a Malcolm Munro who died in 1836. It is listed under Dunoon Sheriff Court and says Malcolm was the joint tenant of Glaswar. Can someone give me an idea where Dunoon is or was? Anywhere near Belhelvie? Glaswar is probably a farm?

Here are a couple of sites that might be of interest. The second one is the webcam at Dunoon, so you can see it for real.

The only Belhelvie I could find is in Aberdeen region. The link to Belhelvie graveyard might be of interest.

Dunoon Sheriff Court?
Thanks Mary,
This can't be the Malcolm Munro in my family. I didn't have a clue where Dunoon was, but have come across another Malcolm Munro in Argyll. My family all comes from Aberdeenshire. I have been in touch with Colin Milne through another search that involved the Milnes in my family. I'll check with him about the Munros in Belhelvie too.

Hi there
Fraid it would take you 4 or 5 hours, even today, to get between Belhelvie and Dunoon, probably including a ferry crossing. Belhelvie is just a few miles North of Aberdeen and I pass it regularly on my way to Fraserburgh etc. Dunoon is home however but it is not quite so accessible from the NE.
Hope you find your Munros.

Thanks G., but it turns out that this couldn't be the Malcolm Munro who is in our branch of the Munro family. I just didn't know where Dunoon was in Scotland.
