gilmour- robertson

I cant find any reference to james gilmour born about 1815 and his wife elizabeth robertson. they had a son james gilmour who married mary jane adams in blytheswood 1859 .The latter I have info on.But james and elizabeth is just a dead end Is it possible someone may have a clue

Are your couple the James 29 and May Jane 24 with babe Mary in 1861 - living with Adams brothers. (presumably Mary's brothers).
They are all listed as born in Ireland, so that is where you may have to look for the parents.

I have no knowledge/experience of finding Irish family - sorry

James Gilmour, 38, head, born Ireland, Labourer
Elizabeth Gilmour, 37, wife, born Ireland, Labourer's wife
Sarah Ann Gilmour, 14, Daughter, born Ireland, Tambouring
John Gilmour, 12, Son, born Ireland, Drawer in a Pit
James Gilmour, 10, Son, born Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Drawer in a Pit
Elizabeth Gilmour, 7, Daughter, born Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Scholar
Catherine Gilmour, 2, born Bothwell, Lanarkshire, Labourer's Daur

Since the older children were born in Ireland, it is likely the parents' marriage was also in Ireland.

What a sad tale the Census tells though a 10 & 12 year old working in the Pit.When they should have been at school,playing in the steets.
Thank God we have moved on from that.Must have been desperate times.
