Yep it's the elusive Hislops/Hyslops/McLeans again
I finally did track down one missing leg of the family to the far east - yup they'd moved off tae Edinburgh, and that is just the start of the tale!!
Sarah Hislop left her first husband (Thomas Hislop) and moved in with another Thomas, this time McLean - they went on to have 2 further daughters, but never married (to my knowledge). On Sarahs death cert she is stated as the wife of Thomas Hislop - no mention of Mr McLean.
Anyway - these 2 daughters.
I have found the birth cert for the second daughter Rebecca (1896), but try as I might I'm having no luck finding Jeanies, born approx 1894.
On the 1901 census Jeanie (Jennie) is there and is noted as being 6, I've also found her marriage cert in 1917 too, but still no birth cert.
I've tried every combo I can think of - and I'm worn oot. Can anyone suggest a new angle?

and had a son between them. When he died there was no mention whatsoever of my granny, only his lawful wife.
have you tried searching without a given name under Hislop or McLean or even her ms. Using a location and date spread.
