Craw family of Edinburgh and Midlothian

Post by John Bird » Mon Jul 09, 2007 7:27 am

Hi

I would like to find some of my Scottish Craw family relations.

I am tracing my Craw ancestors who come from Edinburgh. I have traced the family back to a Thomas Craw born about 1570 in Edinburgh. Early generations were almost exclusively located in Edinburgh. Their spouses all came from Edinburgh. The surnames include Squair, Suttie, Noble, Rae and Smyth About the middle of the 1700s they moved to the Parishes of Cramond and later Kirkliston. However, my great x 2 grandfather Walter Craw was living at 9 Bread Street Edinburgh at the time of his marriage in 1829. His wife Jane Robertson was living at No 5 Bread Street. The Robertson family also has a long history in Edinburgh. Other names that were related to the Craws include Laurie and Abernethy. Walter and Jane emigrated to Australia in 1832 and were among the earliest settlers in Tasmania.

I was hoping that these names and places above might mean something to someone. I look forward to hearing from anyone who may be connected to my Craw ancestors.

thanks

Hi John,

I don't have a link to any of your names but thought by bringing your post "up front" possibly a new member might recognize a name. Good Luck!

Regards,
