Clans and Septs-Watt family

Hi

My grandfather was Peter Watt. The Watt family came from Aberdeenshire, initially around the Glenbuchat and Kildrummy areas. My great great grandfather was the coach man to Lord Forbes and the family lived on the Forbes estate. I was led to believe that the Watt's were a sept of Clan Buchanan. However I also understand they are are also sept of Clan Forbes. I would like to confirm whether my Watt ancestors are septs of Clan Buchanan or Forbes.

I would appreciate any information/advice.
