No Luck with GRO

Post by gtv1750 » Sun Jul 29, 2007 12:36 pm

I am search for my grandfather's history and recently had no luck with the Scottish GRO in tracking down a record of his birth.

I have limited details of Herbert Job HARVEY who was born approx. 1910 (give or take 5 years or so) in Ayr (I have no details of his parents). He left scotland as a young child with his parents to live in India and later settled in Sydney, Australia.

If anyone can suggest any other options then I would appreciate the assistance.

Regards,

Paul

Hi Paul,

Welcome to TalkingScot.

Was it GROS in Edinburgh that you were in touch with? Was it them who could not find any sign of Herbert?

His birth would not show on the ScotlandsPeople website for another few years, as there is 100 years closure on birth records before they go online. The only change in that may come out (hopefully) later this year when the indexes of newer births, marriages and deaths go online.

All the best,

AndrewP
