Help needed with a family from New Deer Area

I am having major headaches trying to find marriage details for this pair of ancestors:

William Adams b. c1846 New Deer, Aberdeenshire
Janet Saint b. 9/8/1856 in Cruden, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire

They had 5 children

Elizabeth Jane Saint Adams b. 19/4/1878 in Maud, New Deer
James Adams b. 1880 in New Deer
William Adams b. 1885 in New Deer
John Adams b. 1889 in New Deer
Hilda Ann Clarke Adams b. 26/6/1891 in Maud, New Deer

I'm presuming all the children were born in Maud, with the eldest & youngest being born there .. these are the two birth cetificates that i have along with Janets. Got the boys ages from a 1891 census which shows the family living in the parish of Maud, New deer on 5th April.The boys birth details are listed as New Deer. My great-grandma ( Hilda ) wasn't born till June that year. This information is how i got the family ages for the ones i didn't have details for.

I know William (senior) was a Master Blacksmith. Janet Saint has also been using the names Jane & Jessie, and the middle name of 'Smith'
( which isnt on her birth details) ... very confusing . On Elizabeth's birth details they listed they were married on the 17th June 1876 in Old Deer, but on Hilda's birth details it's down as the 18th June, but cannot find evidence of this anywhere!

I can't find Williams birth certificate .. or their marriage certificate or any death cetificates on either of them, and have hit a dead end.
On Hildas death details in 1932 .. it says father ( William Adams) deceased .. but no mention of her mother being deceased.



This William, is not the William Adams born in New Deer 19/2/1845 & baptised on 23/3/1845 to a Alexander Adams & Mary Mackie .. as the details dont match up ( been down that road already)

Sorry to go on a bit .. but wanted to put down as much info as i could in the hope someone out there can point me in the right direction.

Annette, i have just found the correct William Adams & Jane Saints marriage details, and also got her death details too.

You are FABULOUS !!

In their marriage details it says she was 24 .. but that doesnt match up with her birth certificate i have. I reckon she was only 20 when they married. Also in her death details it says she was 81 when she died .. again the age is wrong as she was only 76. Does this hapen alot that these rellies of ours lied about their ages?

Her place of death listed is only 5 mins along the road from my house
( spooky ) and i just sent a birthday card to my friend that lives in Kinellar .. the very same place

Out of interest were William's parents James and Elizabeth Daniel?

If so Elizabeth is still alive in 1881 with son David who was born in 1855.

Hmmm thats odd Annette ..

I have Janet Saint being born in Cruden, in the parish of Peterhead on the 9th August 1856 .. daughter of John Saint ( Crofter) & Ann Saint m.s Walls

Regarding William Adams parents .. it seems they are:

William Adams ( Blacksmith)
Ann Adams ( m.s Clark ) .. both deceased at the time of Williams marriage to Jane

This figures with the name of my great-grandma ( their daughter) who had the name 'Hilda Ann Clark Adams'

btw the marriage details of William & Jane say they got married not on either of the dates i mentioned before, but the 28th June 1876

I think your lady is the one born in 1851 especially with the middle name Smith.
