Hi Y'all,
I've been testing the new site for months and was very impressed with all the new additions but, since it's gone live, I can't get access.
I'm a bit concerned over all the problems posted, Talking Scot users are a TINY proportion of all SP users (probably about 1% if not less) so, if so many problems are posted here the actual amount must be staggering.
I will confer with other User Group members. The new site (when and if accessible) is a massive improvement on the old one but will take a bit of getting used to (I personally think the new design is very well thought out and particularly user friendly)..

Searching for Keogh, Kelly, Fitzgerald, Riddell, Stewart, Wilson, McQuilkin, Lynch, Boyle, Cairney, Ross, King, McIlravey, McCurdy, Drennan and Woods (to name but a few).
Also looking for any information on Rathlin Island, County Antrim, Ireland.

Hi All,
I've been having trouble viewing my 1881 censuses. If I try from Viewed Images it tells me 'site temporarily unavailable' and if I go from Previous Searches it tells me I have to pay to view, which I already have. Only seems to occur with 1881, the 1871, 91, and 1901 seem okay (as far as I've checked at the moment).
Anyone else had this problem?
Yes, I have sent a Contact Form

SP Password Problems
Hi Ina and everyone
Thanks for your help.
I have checked my upper and lower case but this is not the problem. I will get someone to check my firewall as I still can't log on and SP have still not replied to my contact email.
Getting withdrawal symptoms.

Just tried to view my previously viewed images. Under "description" it no longer gives the names, only says whether birth, death, marriage or census. This could present a long tedious task trying to find previous paid for searches.
I also can't open any of the previously viewed 1881 census records.
Have sent a contact form off to SP.

1881 etc
I too have noticed that I am being asked to pay to view 1881 census images which I already paid for.
I sent a contact form last week about the previous searches problem - received a prompt reply that if I didn't use the alphabetic sorting , there was no problem and that a fix would be made this week. Doesn't look like that's happened though

It used to be that when I went to viewed images, it would list the name of the individual under "description". Now only the first five of my records list the name. All of the other viewed images only say whether it was a birth, death, marriage, or census record. On the last 10 pages or so of my viewed images it only says -1 under the description heading.
I sent a contact form a week ago and received the following reply this morning:
Thank you for contacting us. The old site too did not list the names of individuals under 'Viewed Images' - it only used to give information on the kind of records (for example, Census - year etc.) they corresponded to.
As in the old site, the new site shows you the names of all subjects in the 'Previous Searches'.
I know that this is not the case, and if so why does the first five of my viewed images still list the individuals name under description?
Does anyone else have names listed under description in "viewed images"?.
Sent another contact form this morning and asked them to take a look at my account and let me know why my names had been deleted.

I have the same problem ..... I noticed that my Viewed Images show names from June 1st onwards, when the new site started, and all my viewed images from May 2005 to 2003 just show whether its a marriage, death, birth or census ......... so I believe something happened when the new site was launched, let us know what kind of response you get on your latest contact form, does anyone else have this problem ???

I've just had a look at my viewed images on Scotland's People.
What does the Date column mean ?
obviously the year is the year the recorded event took place , but the rest [ even the census dates] are all the 1st of January.....
What's the earthly point of doing that ? It means absolutely nothing.
for example I have 2 1866 SR Marriages both say 01/01/1866 but one is June the 6th 1866 and the other June 8th 1866.
There is also a problem of when the order is changed it reverts each time to the default so if you want to check all the 1881 census images in your collection you have to resort the list between veiwings or else you just get whatever record was 'next' on the default sorting order , be it a death, another census year, birth or marriage.
Did that make any sense
I haven't looked at Scotland's people much since the change - put off by all the problems reported - now I'm wishing I hadn't
Contact form duly sent

Hi Wilma, I agree with the date column, just went into SP and on the homepage I clicked the latest update and news it says absolutely nothing about problems, I think they need to be making updates to tell us they are still working on problems or a least an acknowledgement that there are still problems or this is what you get !!WilmaM wrote:I've just had a look at my viewed images on Scotland's People.
