Re: modern indexes
Hello Mary,
the same information will be presented as in the current results from Statutory Births, Marriages, and Deaths. The difference will be, as stated in the minutes: "Although users will be able to search death records using mother’s maiden surnames these will not be presented in the search results."
Regards,
John

By inference, see item 16 in the minutes, by the end of the year but GROS' track record in meeting such anticipated dates leaves something to be desired, - so be warned!paddyscar wrote:Is there an anticipated roll-out date for access to searches using the Mother's maiden name? My apologies, if it's there and I didn't 'get' it.
Thanks, Frances

I will be able in tim eto search for BMD right up to 2007 online at SP ? Wat information would roughly be available?
And also OPR Death records available to search and download similar to OPR marriage/births

These will be as index entries only (year, name, registration district; and I think age on death records). The images will remain with the time restrictions that are currently on ScotlandsPeople, so don't be looking for a heap of new images becoming available.David Lang wrote:I will be able in time to search for BMD right up to 2007 online at SP ? Yes, to an extent. The constraint is the level of information in the OPRs regarding deaths. Many of these are mortcloth records only, basically a set of accounts showing the payment made for hiring the mortcloth from the parish church. Only a minority have information at a level similar to the birth or marriage OPRs.David Lang wrote:And also OPR Death records available to search and download similar to OPR marriage/births
Some parishes never recorded deaths or burials in the OPRs. So these will be more of a "hit or miss" than the other OPRs.
All the best,
AndrewP
