Hi to you all,

I also have so much trouble with this "new" and not improved version of SP I would not know where to begin. I am still waiting for my will's which I paid for last year to be moved to S.P. I have been in contact with Scottish Docs. they say they have done what they had to do to move them and now it is in the hands of S.P. I have written umpteen times to S.P. and received an answer on June 7th, which brought even more questions, it seems now I do not have an S.P. user name (excuse me) it is the same name I have used for years! I am sick and tired of writing to them. I really do not think anyone reads anything. I can see the time will expire at Scottish Docs. and all my 14 will's will go into space!

Another little goody, if you choose the 'free look' they all show up the next time you do a search. You are not purchasing anything here, remember you are just looking. The punchline is, there is no delite button so you are stuck with them!

Hi Lizzie,

My ScottishDocuments wills have appeared on ScotlandsPeople, but not merged into my existing ScotlandsPeople account. I reported this and got the standard reply answer that they have been using. I have replied to the sender of that e-mail and await her answer. Essentially, she is saying that I gave wrong information on the ScottishDocuments transfer request. That is possible, so now having supplied her with the correct information, I live in hope that the two accounts can be merged.

All the best,

Andrew Paterson

Andrew, that person told me exactly the same thing, that I had given wrong information.

I have just written yet another memo to them.

Andrew and Lizzie

I also got the "wrong information" e-mail, when I wrote to SP about my wills, which I haven't been able to view on SP.

Lizzie, I have downloaded all mine "just in case". Seemed wiser.

Hi all
Just fed up to the back teeth with the new site. It is just so frustrating!!!! :x

For some reason Internet Explorer seems to not allow me to chose an area to search anymore - if I choose, say, Midlothian, using the drop down list, the page refreshes as I would expect but instead of a list of parishes to chose from I'm back to "All Areas". (contact form has been sent) I've fixed this myself by using Mozilla now for SP instead of IE!

Sorting Previous searches alphabetically seems to stay for a bit but they are not exactly as "alphabetical" as they used to be - there seems to be a secondary sort applied by type of record. Clicking on links to lists from previous searches often returns me to page 1 of my (suddenly) unsorted previous searches list (contact form sent!) And links often lead to the wrong previous search (contact form sent) And I too have the problem with many previous searches listed as "birthm 955897" or something similar which means nothing to me.

And none of my ScottishDocuments files are anywhere to be seen. (yes, despite contact form sent)

Thoroughly, thoroughly fed up..... :(
Researching:
Midlothian & Fife - Goalen, Lawrie, Ewart, Nimmo, Jamieson, Dick, Ballingall.
Dunbartonshire- Mcnicol, Davy, Guy, McCunn, McKenzie.
Ayrshire- Lyon, Parker, Mitchell, Fraser.
Easter Ross- McCulloch, Smith, Ross, Duff, Rose.

Regarding the Scottish Documents on SP......I just received the following email from SP:

Dear Scottish Documents Customer

Thank you for agreeing to the transfer of your account details to the new http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk website.

Scotland on Line, the company hosting http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk, has been processing the transfer and has informed us that they have had a problem matching the username for your existing ScotlandsPeople account to the username you gave in the opt-in details.

Accordingly, we are now sending you the username assigned to you in an account newly created for you on http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk:

They then went on to give me a new user name.

Hi Ina,

I also have that reply - with a re-assigned user name. A standard letter sent to many, I guess.

All the best,

Hello all,

Alison at SP has just e-mailed the User Group to say that new code was introduced this afternoon to overcome some problems with previous searches.

There is a bug with wildcard searches for marriages and deaths, but not births, and that is being investigated.

I have no experience with using the Scottish Documents site, but I am also exchanging e-mails about the problems with account transfers.

Regards,

John

I too have had problems with loss of description on the Viewed Images/Timeline pages. A description of -1 doesn't help anybody. I sent in a contact form and got the standard reply -

I passed your email query to our engineers who have said that in your
previous account, there was no description box on the viewed image page. For
many older images there was not enough information around during the import
to put anything meaningful so they ended up with -1.

I wrote back that I was not satisfied with that reply, because there had been descriptions before so where were they now?. In Timeline there has always been the facility to change the wording of the description of the Image and update. so there must have been a description!! The dates of the searches concerned were from 28/9/2002 to 19/2/2003.

i await a further reply from SP. Otherwise I am happy with the service they are providing.

Hi Annpa,

I had the same problem that you are having, and was not satisfied with the answer I got from SP.

By playing around the site myself I found that if you click on "description" again, it will list the names and not -1. Not sure why SP couldn't tell me this.
