I find the filter on the viewed images very useful as I have so many records (don't like to think how much they have all cost). However, when I have finished my search, I can't get the filter off and if I just go and click on the viewed images header again, it says "no images". The only way I can get back in to view things, is to come right out and sign in again. Surely there must be an easier way.
Main lines: McCormick(mack); Connel; Others: McDonald; McFadzean; Brown; Kerr and many more

Hi Grendlsmother,

When you filter you enter the name then click inside the little box and a check mark will show...
to undo this filter, just click on the checkmark and you should be back to normal.

Hope that's what you're looking for. :)

Regards,
Anne H

Hi Grendlsmother,

Anne beat me to it but, if it's any consolation, it took me ages to work it out myself. There's no wee note to tell you to do it

SP - take note

McDonald or MacDonald (some couldn't make up their mind!), Bonner, Crichton, McKillop, Campbell, Cameron, Gitrig (+other spellings), Clark, Sloan, Stewart, McCutcheon, Ireland (the surname)

I have a confession to make...I just figured it out myself when Grendlsmother posed the question.

Erm

Maybe SP needs to look at that :?:

If experienced researchers have had a problem figuring this out, new users are certainly going to have a problem...

Hi

If you click on the wee question mark beside the check box it gives an explanation of how it works - see copied text below.

"Viewed Images - Description Filter

This facility allows the Viewed Images to be filtered out by keywords in the Description Column. Exact matches only are returned, but the text entered can be any number of characters.
For example entering 644/ in the box will return all images that contain the RD 644 in the GROS reference.

Click the Filter check box to apply the filter and uncheck to remove the filter. "

One of my fav sayings is
"When all else fails read the instructions".
My Mother used to drive me mad by reading the instructions to the enth degree before doing anything. She invaribly got it right first time.
I am more of the try it & see what happens first school.Over the years though I have mellowed & I am more apt to read the "how to" before I do do.

"When all else fails read the instructions".
Now that's something I never think of doing.

Believe it or not though, until I went into SP to 'investigate' for Grendlsmother, I had no idea of what I was going to look for, but yet, after viewing an image, I closed it and went right back to the page and clicked on that little check mark as if I had known what to do all along....hmmm! :?

Anne H
